Ivan Rakitic: No problems with Stimac

Croatian Times

Croatian football star Ivan Rakitic has said he doesn’t have a problem with national team coach Igor Stimac.

Stimac criticised the Sevilla FC midfielder after Croatia’s World Cup qualifier against Macedonia.

But speaking to daily newspaper Jutarnji List, Rakitic said: "Yes, the coach has told me he was not happy with my performance.

"I do not agree with all of it, but I accept the criticism.

"It ‘s my job to do good performances in the club and return ready for the national team."

He added: "I’ve always believed in myself.

"So, a bad phase won't change that.

"I always give my best when playing for the Croatian national team.

"I don't blame Igor Stimac for not including me in the team against Belgium earlier this week.

"I hoped to play, but that's coach's decision and I respect it," he said.
