English football league two side Northampton Town have become the first english club to spend the pre-season training in Croatia.
While the Croatian football federation weighs up options as to where to build a football camp for the national team to prepare at, English side Northampton Town have not waited for any camp to be built and are preparing for the next English season in Novigrad, Istria, reports website index.hr.
"Not only Novigrad, but Istria for us so far has been a "well-guarded secret," and we are glad that we discovered it and that we are here now. I would like to praise the people who gave us all their time and maximum effort to make our stay here the best possible. Nothing for them is difficult, and are always at our service, when there is a problem, they solve it, and that is with everyone - from staff at the hotel to people at the club or on the football field. Truly a pleasure!," said Northampton Town coach Adrian Neal Boothroyd.
Boothroyd concluded by saying that Croatia has been the best pre-season destination the club has been to.
"Our club so far has been to pre-season camps in the U.S, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Ireland, Germany and Austria and I have to admit that this has been the best place we have been to so far."
