Spanish football giants Real Madrid maybe on the verge of signing Croatian midfield maestro Luka Modric, but their rivals Barcelona are lining up a Croatian of their own - 8-year old Marin Banic.
Banic, a right-sided attacking player, has impressed Barcelona scouts at the Barcelona training camp which was held in Porec and Slavonski Brod in Croatia, and the catalonian club want to sign him.
Banic is a member of the Hajduk Split club in the Dalmatian city of Split, where his talent has already caught the eye of senior officials at the club. Banic was the only player to attend both Barcelona camps held in Croatia and he left such an impression on coaches there that there is talk of the youngster going to Barcelona for trials.
"Three trainers from Barcelona said that he is an extremely coordinated kid, that he has vision, can read the game and is very interesting and that he is like a soldier when he plays," said Neven Banic, Marin's father, reports daily newspaper Slobodna Dalmacija.
