Sven-Goran Eriksson promotes sport for youths in Split

Sven-Göran Eriksson, a well-known Swedish football coach, will open "Youth Sport Games- International Days" today (Tues) in Split.

As event ambassador, Eriksson is planning to stay in Split for a few days with games organization members. He attended the Hajduk-Zadar football match played on Sunday in Split.

Talking about youth and sport, he said: "Youth sporting events are a really positive initiative and mean a lot to young people".

Eriksson’s football career was ended by injury in 1975. He was a successful club football coach from 1978 to 2001 in Sweden, Portugal and Italy. He was also the first foreign manager of the English national team, succeeding Kevin Keegan in 2001.

Teams from Slovenia, Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Macedonia as well as from Croatia will take part in the Split event.
