Vital 82-year-old New Zealander breaks rafting record in Croatia

Croatian Times

New Zealander Sidney Salek has delighted his Croatian hosts when arriving for his new adventure at the age of 82.

The man from Mount Maunganui who broke country's swimming record for the age over 80 by swimming 400m freestyle in 7min 48.53sec has now broken a rafting record in Croatia this week.

"He was the oldest person even to take our tour of rafting at Cetina river", Karlo Ruzic of Adventure Dalmatia agency revealed.

Sidney Salek dubbed Supa Sid back home has delighted his hosts with his adventurous spirit, but they returned the enthusiasm with their hospitality and the fact they did not want to charge him for the rafting tour because they treated him as a star - after realizing his age and searching his name on Google to find about his swimming records.

"The hosts were so friendly to me. I really enjoyed the rafting", Sidney Salek commented after his adventure on Cetina river close to southern Croatian town of Omis.
