Croatian artist lies on bathroom floor for three days before police find him

A renowned Croatian artist has been confined to a hospital bed after suffering a fall that left him temporarily paralysed.

Tomislav Gotovac slipped in his bathroom where he lay on the floor for three days unable to call for help.

Eventually friends became worried and called the police who broke into the apartment and took the artist to the hospital, the Croatian daily Jutarnji List reports.

Gotovac – who in 2005 changed his name to Antonio G. Lauer – is a well-known performance artist and director.

He made his last street performance titled "Croatian Masterpieces" (Hrvatska remek-djela) in autumn 2009.

Some of his most well known works are currently exhibited at the Pompdou Centre in Paris.
