Bulgarian tourist sentenced for smuggling a seashell from Croatia

A Bulgarian tourist has been jailed for taking a rare clam shell off a beach.
A Croatian court heard that the man, who hasn’t been named, and his girlfriend had been holidaying on the Adriatic coast and had wanted the shell as a souvenir, not realising it’s rarity.
But when they reached the border, customs officials told him he had taken a rare Pinna Noblis clam shell and arrested him for smuggling
He was sentenced to 18 days in jail and fined 900 Euros.
