Croatia on the list of countries bribed by Pfizer

Croatian Times

U.S. pharmaceutical giant Pfizer has to pay 60.2 million US dollars to settle charges that it paid millions in bribes to doctors and health care employees in several countries, including Croatia, reports Vecernji list.

Between 1997 and 2006 the pharmaceutical giant profited by more than 7 million US dollars by paying more than 2 million US dollars in bribes to government officials in Croatia, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan and Russia, announced the official website of the FBI.

Bribes were given to doctors in Italy, Serbia, China and Czech Republic. According to court evidence collected, Pfizer paid the bribes to hospital staff, members of the sales boards and other health workers, and thus influenced the decision on the approval and registration of their products in these countries.
