Mail from Australia turns up one year late in Croatia

Croatian Times

Croatian Post revealed on Tuesday that it had just received a bag of mail from Australia, more than one year after it should have arrived, reports Croatian daily newspaper Vecernji list.

The mail bag, which was sent from the Australian city of Melbourne, departed on 27 April 2011 and only just arrived in Croatia.

"Probably the reason why all this mail was late was that the bag got lost at Frankfurt airport, where it goes before travelling to Croatia. According to details on the bag, it is clear that the mail left Australia for Croatia in April 2011, and the mail was sent from Frankfurt on 19 July 2012," said a statement from Croatian Post.

The late mail will be delivered as soon as possible by Croatian Post, but out of the hundreds of pieces of mail, some had unfortunately been damaged due to the moisture and addresses are unreadable and those will be destroyed.
