The United States of America have congratulated Croatia on their Statehood Day which is celebrated today (Monday) in Croatia, reports Croatian radio television.
"On behalf of the President Barack Obama and the people of the United States, I am pleased to send best wishes to the people of the Republic of Croatia as they celebrate their declaration of independence on 25 June," said in a message from US secretary of state Hillary Clinton.
The message of congratulations from the US, among other things, highlighted the contribution of Croatia to NATO, the recent entry into the European Union and the contribution to peacekeeping missions in Afghanistan and elsewhere.
"We look forward to strengthening our friendship and partnership with Croatia and all Croats in the years to come", said the United States.
