Serb to make curious protest along Adriatic coast

Croatian Times

A Serbian TV station owner has announced an unusual crusade against what he calls the "mediocrity" that does not allow normalization of relations on both sides of the Croatian-Serbian border.

Stefan Cvetkovic plans to take a Yugo car and paint it the in colours of the Serbian flag with a sign saying: "I am a car from Serbia, but I am not guilty. I am driven by a man, not a Serbian or a Croatian." He then plans to drive it equipped with four cameras along the Adriatic coast, from Prevlaka in the south to Istria in the north.

The unusual protest comes after Cvetkovic’s car – bearing Serbian plates – was vandalised twice in as many days while he was on a business trip to Dubrovnik. The police response was very courteous, Cvetkovic said, but they warned him of the dangers of having his number plates.

"It wasn’t clear to me why because I regularly paid my bills, I did not provoke anyone and I am not someone who has some problems dating from the 90s. On the contrary, I was always someone who was on the side of reason," says Cvetkovic, who plans to implement his experiment this month.

"I do not wish to provoke anyone, this is a protest against irrational behavior, mainly stemming from my desire not to do that which aggressors expect from me, and that is to change my tourist destination," he said.

Cvetkovic’s Croatian colleagues have warned him to announce his protest officially and get accreditation, fearing that his vehicle may not be allowed to enter. He, however, believes that will not be the case, the daily Vecernji List writes.

I hope that they will let him in Croatia and than that every single window on that car will be broken And that they will kick his ass as well while they are at it! He expects that anyway cause he intends to come with old YUGO not with new BMW Srbin
