Pedestrian may have to pay for damage to the car that hit him

Hrvoje Petranovic may have to pay 11,246 kunas (1,548 Euros) for damage to the car that hit him at a pedestrian crossing in December 2009.
Petranovic was taking part in a demonstration against a ban on parking in Zagreb's Pantovcak area when he was hit by a car driven by Martina Milas.
The daily Novi list has reported that Petranovic claimed the woman had been upset because the demonstration had been blocking traffic.
Patranovic and numerous witnesses also claimed that she had hit him on purpose and that her car had carried him for 20 metres before he fell from it.
Euroherc insurance company claimed that Petranovic was to blame for damage to one of the car's windscreen wipers and an outside mirror.
Petranovic said he had been forced to grab the wiper and the mirror in order to keep himself from falling under the car’s wheels.
Petranovic also asked how a wiper and a mirror of the seven-year-old Renault Clio could cost 11,246 kunas.
Petranovic and Milas will appear in Zagreb’s magistrates court in April, and a judge will decide who must pay for the damage.
