Germany Croatia´s biggest tourist market, says minister

Croatian Times

Croatia's tourism minister Damir Bajs believes 2010 will be the year of "last-minute" tourism.

Taking part in Monday's session of the Croatian tourist board, HTZ, Bajs also said he believed marinas and campsites will do better than hotels this year.

Germany is still the most important market for Croatia, he said, and most marketing  will be directed toward that market.

The HTZ will allocate 130 million kunas or 18 million Euros for joint marketing activities, an increase of 6.4 million kunas or 881,000 Euros on 2009.

Bajs said he was aware Croatia's competition, such as Greece, France, Portugal and Spain, will do all in their power to hold onto business this year, meaning Croatia  needs to do even more.
