Woman keeps her baby despite coma and head operations

Croatian Times

Katarina Ormanec has succeeded in keeping her baby despite that she was in a coma and underwent several operations on her head.

The daily Vecernji list has reported that Ormanec, 19, fell into a four-metre-deep hole and suffered a severe head injury on 30 October 2009 in Zadar.

After more than three months of recovery and six months of pregnancy, she is feeling much better.

She said: "I do not remember anything, but maybe that is better. But I have heard in dreams my fiancé telling me how much he loves me."

Her fiancé Marko Markek, 27, said Katarina had had head operations and it was a miracle she was alive. Even her doctors at Koprivnica hospital said her recovery had been a great success and it was also a miracle she had succeeded in keeping her baby despite the shock her body had undergone.

She needs to learn to walk, talk, write and speak again. Katarina said it would be much easier because she had the support of her fiancé.
