Nine valuable paintings by Edo Murtic have been stolen

Police have arrested a 36-year-old man suspected of having stolen nine paintings
by renowned Croatian painter Edo Murtic.
The man is suspected of having stolen the paintings worth 1.3 million kunas (177,000 Euros) from Murtic's family house in Vrsar, Istria between 19 and 21 January.
The theft was discovered by Murtic’s widow Goranka Vrus-Murtic on 22 January when she visited the house.
The suspect, who is already known to police, was arrested on Monday and brought to investigative court in Pula on Tuesday.
The thief also stole a DVD and a hi-fi at the house.
Police found only five of the paintings in his flat and so assumed he had sold the rest of them.
Police also found valuable art works by other artists in the flat that might also have been stolen.
