Tourist season getting longer and longer for Dubrovnik

The flag was lowered last night on Orlando's column to signal the close of the 63rd Dubrovnik Summer Festival. The end of the summer festival however does not mean the end of the tourist season for the popular Dalmatian tourist spot, as hoteliers continue to achieve record revenues with tourists at the same levels as in the middle of the season.

Although, traditionally the closing of the Dubrovnik Summer Festival meant the post-season had started with tourists numbers down and hotel prices lowered, this year that has not been the case. Yesterday (Sunday), in fact, there were more than 18,000 visitors in Dubrovnik, 10 per cent more than last year at the end of August, and prices have remained the same as at the beginning of the month.

Croatian radiotelevision reports that hoteliers expect the current numbers to continue through September also.
