Tourist revenue up by 4.2 per cent

The Ministry of Tourism is pleased to report that in the first five months of 2012 the tourism sector generated 4.2 per cent more revenue that in the same period last year, writes portal index.hr.

"The total financial income in the sectors of accommodation, food services and the activities of travel agencies and tour operators in the first five months of 2012 amounted to 6.1 billion kuna (810 million Euros) representing a growth of 4.2 per cent compared to the same period last year." said the Ministry of Tourism report.

The biggest increase in revenue in 2012 compared to the previous year, according to the report, came from revenue earned from tour operators, who accounted for 122.7 million kuna (16 million Euros), a 24 per cent increase on 2011. Revenue earnt from accommodation was up 10 per cent to 2.3 billion kuna (300 million Euros), whilst revenue from tourist camp sites rose by 14 per cent to 54 million kuna (7.1 million Euros).
