Number of building permits issued on decline in Croatia

There were 700 building permits issued in Croatia in April, a drop of 14.3 per cent compared to the same period last year, according to statistics released on the Croatian Statistics Bureau website.

In the first third of 2012, permits issued for buildings made up 76.6 per cent of the total number of permits issued in the country. In April there were 536 permits issued for buildings. Last year in April 2011 there were 694 building permits issued.

The number of permits issued was not the only thing in decline. The value of planned construction also fell in April compared to the same period last year. In April 2011 that value was 1.8 billion kuna (230 million Euros), falling to 1.37 billion kuna (190 million Euros) in April 2012.
