Croat emigrants plan 40 million Euro project on Ugljan

Ten Croatian emigrants from Australia presented their 40-million-Euro joint investment project for the tourist zone on the island of Ugljan on Wednesday.
The entrepreneurs are interested in developing Kukljica district on the island into a tourist zone with hotels, villas, apartments and marinas.
Davor Martinovic, a former advisor to several Canadian prime ministers who presented the project, said that Kukljica is especially attractive due to the locality’s proximity to Kornati archipelago where the group plans a construction of another marina. He added that the project would contribute to the local economy as it would employ island residents, the business daily Poslovni Dnevnik writes.
The idea, born two years ago, has been "on hold" because of the recession, but the excellent tourist season has given it a new impetus, he added.
