The company Made in Istria (MIH) has increased exports of extra-virgin olive oil San Gurmano to the USA and is planning to do business with France.
All olives in San Gurmano brands come from the vicinity of Porec, an ancient town on the western coast of Istria.
The Privredni vjesnik website has reported that the Fino Products company in Chicago started to import San Gurmano olive oil last year, receiving 570 bottles of it.
The firm has already bought 1,740 bottles this year, a much better result than in 2009.
The American company has also ordered 264 bottles of MIH’s new product, San Gurmano elder-flower vinegar.
San Gurmano's products can be bought at specialized shops such as City Olive, Lush Wine & Spirits and Olivia's Market in Chicago.
MIH wants to introduce exclusive San Gurmano products in 60 shops across the USA this year.
San Gurmano extra-virgin olive oil has also been exported for the first time to the French market, where it is available at Oliviers&Co’s exclusive shops.
