Student Claudia Glockner, 18, blasted in the head at point blank range by a sex maniac who had decided he wanted to kill her managed to stay on her feet, fight him off and then raise the alarm with police who arrested her attacker at Hirschthal in Switzerland.
Police arrested Heinz Kaeser, 28, as he returned to the scene to get the gun that he had lost when he was fought off by the teenager.
Police spokesman Urs Winzenried said: "We believe that he wanted to kill her and then carry out a sex attack. He did not expect the amount of fight that the girl would put up."
Police have now issued snaps of the man to see if he had other victims where the scratch wounds on his face from the young woman are clear to be seen.
The man admitted what he had done when he was arrested, said police who said that a second woman who claims he assaulted her has already come forward. When they first interviewed the teenager they said they believed she had been hit on the head, and only realised there was a bullet in her skull when she was taken to hospital. A munitions expert said that the gun had probably misfired otherwise the girl would have been dead.
Detectives added that Kaeser had no previous convictions and he is currently undergoing a psychological examination pending attempted murder and sex assault charges.
