Residents in this block of flats in China didn't miss out on an opportunity after flooding left them trapped in the building in southwest China’s Chongqing municipality.
As water washed below them from the nearby Yangtze River they spotted that there were fish in what used to be the car park below – and several residents managed to land a catch by bringing out fishing rods and trying to hook a fish supper.
Local officials said that the flooding of the Yangtze was the worst in 31 years and had devastated the local region affecting 163,000 people and causing at least £70 million GBP worth of damage – although there had been incredibly no dead reported.
Fisherman Lei Liao said: "I didn't catch anything but my neighbour did – and it was a great way to pass the time. There wasn't much fresh stuff on offer in the shops so everybody hoped to the the one to pull in a fresh fish. He said there seemed to be plenty of fish that had congregated below in the car park and added: "Even if I didn't get lucky this time – I reckon I'll grab a few fish when the water goes down."
