Brit mum murder: Brit cops join hunt

croatiantimes.com

British police are expected to attend a post mortem into an Italian murder victim tomorrow (Tuesday) in a case they hope will crack the eight-year mystery death of British mum Heather Barnett.

Police from Bournemouth, Dorset, are due to arrive in southern Italy to observe forensic examinations after the body of missing local schoolgirl Elisa Claps was discovered hidden in a church roof in Potenza.

Seamstress Mrs Barnett, 48, was battered and stabbed to death in a brutal attack in her bathroom.

Her killer left a three-inch strand of cut hair in one of her hands, which was not her own and has never been identified.

Living opposite Mrs Barnett in Bournemouth at the time was Italian Danilo Restivo, now 37, who is also understood to have been among the last to see 16-year-old Elisa alive.

She disappeared after a date with Restivo in 1993 until her body was found last week by builders renovating the  Most Holy Trinity church in Potenza.

Restivo has been arrested by both British and Italian police investigating the killings but released without charge.

Now claims have emerged in Italy that Elisa was murdered by two killers after she refused a sex session.

Her brother Gildo said: ""We won't allow any more gaps in this investigation. It will be a long fight but we will nail down the guilty party."

And her heartbroken mum Filomena added: "My door is always open. If someone knows something about the death of my daughter they can come to speak with me privately.

"I won't say anything to the police - I just want to know the truth."
