Croatian beekeeping centre to be founded

Croatian Times

The University of Zagreb and the Croatian Beekeepers Association will found a beekeeping centre in Mrzlo Polje in Zumberak municipality.

The two sides signed an agreement to that effect on Wednesday this week.

The centre's primary goal will be to improve beekeeping.

Experts from Zagreb University will help educate beekeepers, veterinarians, biologists and agronomists by means of various programmes.

The experts will also organise beekeeping schools for beginners and professionals as well as for students at elementary and high schools.

The centre will produce, brand and sell traditional Croatian products.

Croatian Beekeepers Association head Martin Kranjec said there would also be an institute at the centre.

Kranjec said Croatia should invest in beekeeping, ask for EU financial support of it and export products resulting from it.
