Croatian artist Vlado Franjevic is opening a new exhibition of his work in Liechtenstein this weekend.
Franjevic's exhibition includes his newest paintings and forward developing of his 'complex spiral channel work in progress' project which he started 2004 in Estonia and continued
in Serbia and in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Franjevic was born in Croatia but has been living in Liechtenstein for the past 15 years.
Talking about his 'spiral channel' projects, Vlado stressed that every working process has a different theme which is of special importance in the geo-political space where he works as, for example, in 2004 in Estonia where the topic was 'isolation'.
"I understand that my art project is some kind of a new ritual place where I bring different impulses and energies from all around. Great help also comes from these nice people who participate and send me messages on my themed work. From the moment I get messages I'm closer to these people," the artist said.
The theme of the exhibition is 'Magic of Water' due to fact that life arose from water - at the same time a symbol of the beginning of the world. Water also has a significant role in art, especially in the Principality of Liechtenstein due to numerous myths.
In this summer Franjevic was the only representative of Art Scene of the Principality of Liechtenstein in 3rd Beijing International Fine Art Biennale and Olympia Fine Arts 2008 in China.
The Liechtenstein exhibition remains open until 5 October.
