Paris Hilton loses the golden touch

Croatian Times

Paris Hilton may have dipped herself in gold for an ad campaign to promote Rich Prosecco but her touch seems to have been anything but golden for the sales of the sparkling wine in a can.

As well as a legal challenge from Italian vintners over the right to call the drink "Prosecco" and a high profile bust up at the management of the firm over her usage as the face of the drink's PR campaign, it seems that sales are not going as well as planned.

The firm claims to now be selling in more than 30 countries, yet in Serbia the price of 5 GBP a can is so high that thousands have remained in a warehouse - with 30,000 units reportedly heading to a Stockport auctioneer that is offering the almost out of date stock at a discount price.

Anyone interested in the bargain basement cans will have to move fast - as they expire in May.   Austrian drinks firm owner Guenther Aloys however remains as passionate about his party girl as ever. "She is the perfect advert for our product, we have several new campaigns that are already being planned," he said.
