Astonished rescue workers have told how a plane pilot and his passenger walked away from the mangled wreckage of this crash after falling out of the sky in Wallis, Switzerland.

The pair landed in thick snow on the region's Tsanfleurong Glacier which experts believe cushioned the impact of the fall.

Local police spokesman Renato Kalbermatten explained: "They were rescued and taken to hospital, but their injuries are not life- threatening.

"The fire-service had to be taken up the glacier to the crash scene in three helicopters."
