The only thing Croatia can offer potential applicants of the EU (not including the former yugo) are under paid jobs, over priced real estate, an unstable economy, a political three ring circus and getting ripped off.....oh but we do have a beautiful country, 1000 islands, a clean adriatic sea, clean air etc etc....so we must be worth something???? right?!!!

I completely agree with "Joe" it seems that the Croatian policy is to make the bureaucracy so difficult so that any potential applicant will give up after days, weeks and months of trying to satisfy the authorities

It sounds about fair! Last year the Croatian government said they would only allow 5000 work permits to foreigners, and there is easily that amount of Croats already abroad working, if not 20 fold. 3700 work visas was going to be just renewals, so that was to leave only 1300 new work permits (remember, most foreigners get a work permit because they own companies and create jobs, not take Croats jobs). Sad to say, outside of tourism the Croatian immigration policy is to make things as tough as they can for any foreigner thinking to come to Croatia. If you dispute this then try a day and a life at MUP for that work visa.

First off, cut all the fat red tape destroying businesses, especially small businesses, lower your taxes, share the wealth and do more to help the people. Is does not take a rocket scientist to fix the problems here, it just takes determination, the will power, and the guts to see it through. Stop all the internal arguing, the political positioning and get out the rule books and start erasing. Only when you trust the people, allow them to be human and offer true compassion, only then will you win the peoples hearts and minds. Otherwise, this government will be a 1 term government like their last attempt.
